Beautiful People is a writing blog meme, each month they post questions for writers to answer about your characters. I shall answer the questions for my current main character, Clara Marsters, from my Tarot Card series.

Overall, how good is their relationship with their parents?
Clara is on good terms with both her parents, despite being left behind when they went on vacation that summer.

Do they know both their biological parents? If not, how do they cope with this loss/absence and how has it affected their life?
Yes, she does.

How did their parents meet?
Met at school. They’re high school sweethearts.

How would they feel if they were told “you’re turning out like your parent(s)”?
Clara already looks like her mom, and has taken on a lot of her qualities. It wouldn’t surprise her if she was told that.

What were your character’s parents doing when they were your character’s age?
Going to high school and spending every holiday they could together.

Is there something they adamantly disagree on?
Not really. Her parents are relaxed, for the most part.

What did the parent(s) find hardest about raising your character?
They didn’t like that she had a habit of vanishing. Most of the time it was just to the neighbour, because that’s where Alex was. They were inseparable for years.

What’s their most vivid memory with their parental figure(s)?
When they went out searching with her to look for Alex after he disappeared. They looked for him as vigorously as they would  if he were their own.

What was your character like as a baby/toddler?
Cried a lot. She didn’t want to be away from her mom.

Why and how did the parents choose your character’s name?
After vetoing each others choices for names, they eventually found one they both liked.

  1. This is one of the first beautiful people posts I’ve read where the character was on good terms with her parents, and that’s saying something considering this is about a character who gets left behind on summer vacation. 🙂
